The problem

The thinking and the doing
keep losing each other.

“Follow up with Joanne.”

You open a task you wrote yourself and have no idea what it means. The meeting happened. The decision happened. The context is gone.

You spend the first minutes rebuilding.

Every work session begins with reconstructing context you already built. Not working — recovering. That cost is invisible and constant.

The tool asks you to be an architect first.

Before you can write, you design the structure. Folders, databases, templates, tags. By the time you’re ready, the thought is gone.

Your notes and tasks live in different places.

The thinking is in one app. The doing in another. The connection between them disappears the moment you switch tools.

Most tools store notes.
Most tools store tasks.

Very few preserve the thread between them.

Tareea was built to keep that thread intact.

Philosophy

Built around
one conviction.

Your thinking and your actions should never lose each other. Every decision in Tareea follows from that — what to include, what to leave out, how it feels to open at 9am.

Write without stopping to organize Tags live beside your notes, not inside them. No hashtags mid-sentence, no interrupting the thought you’re still forming. Organize after the fact, from the notes list, in one click.
No setup before you can start Create a Folio, write a note, make a task. That’s the entire onboarding. The structure emerges from the work — you never design it upfront.
Private by architecture, not by policy Your content is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device. We receive ciphertext we cannot read. This isn’t a setting you turn on — it’s on for every account, every tier, always.
Calm, not busy No streaks. No badges. No activity feeds. No notifications pushing you back in. Productivity isn’t a performance. Tareea is a place to work, not a place to be seen working.

Tareea imports .md and .docx. Your thinking doesn’t need to stay scattered across tools — it can continue here.

How it works

Write. Connect.
See. Act.

Four parts that work together — so the shape of your work stays visible without you having to maintain it.

01 — The connection

The task always
remembers the note.

Highlight any sentence. One click. A task is created — and it carries a permanent link back to the exact note where the idea lived. That link survives renaming, editing, reorganizing. Six months later, the task still knows where it came from.

Tags flow from notes to tasks automatically. File a note under a Folio and every task it generates belongs there too. The context is never lost — it travels with the intention.

Reference any URL from a note — a Google Doc, a Figma file, a research article, a cloud document. Your work doesn’t all have to live in Tareea. Just the connections.

Brussels: who really drove the vote

The official version and the real version are probably different. Find out whether the board saw the risk assessment before or after the vote.

02 — The writing surface

Where thinking
stays uninterrupted.

A surface that gets out of the way.

Headings, lists, quotes, code — full rich text and Markdown. Formatting appears when you need it, disappears when you don’t. No AI rewriting what you’re still trying to think through. This is where ideas stay intact long enough to become clear.

Focus mode removes everything except the page. Sidebars, panels, and toolbars slide away so nothing competes with your attention. Typewriter mode keeps the current line centered, so your thinking doesn’t fall down the page. Quick Capture lets you drop a thought instantly — before it disappears.

Interview notes — Brussels

She reached out first. That matters — people who reach out usually have something they need to say.

Before the call

  • Re-read the leaked February memo
  • Pull the subsidiary filing list

Let her lead for the first twenty minutes. Don't fill the silence.

03 — The map

A map you didn’t
have to build.

Every Folio has a Connection Map — a spatial view of every note, every task, every connection you’ve made. You didn’t design it. It emerged from your work.

Notes that generated the most thinking have the most lines. You can see the shape of a project — how much is done, how much is left, how large it has grown — without reading a single label. Filter by tag and the map responds with you.

04 — The Focus card

Always know
what to start with.

The Focus card scores every active task in your workspace — by urgency, priority, and context — and surfaces one thing. Not a list. Not a quadrant. One task, with its note behind it, waiting.

When nothing is urgent, it tells you that too. Knowing your plate is clear is also information.

The timeline

See the shape of your work
across time.

Your tasks appear as colored dots on a continuous line — colored by the Folio they belong to. Dense days are visible at a glance. Open days show you where there’s breathing room.

Drag dots to reschedule
Today
Drag to reschedule
Grab any dot, drag it to a different day. The task moves. The plan updates. No modal, no form. Pure spatial planning.
Priority by size
High priority tasks are larger dots. The cognitive load of a day is visible before you read a single title.
No-date column
Tasks without a due date live in a permanent column at the far right. Intentions captured but not yet anchored to time — visible, never forgotten.
Getting started

Your first
five minutes.

No setup. No configuration. No templates to choose. Just open Tareea and start.

01

Write a note

Just start writing. No structure required, no Folio to create first. When a thought becomes an action, highlight it and create a task. The connection is made.

02

Give it a home

File the note into a Folio — or create one right there. A client, a project, an idea. The shape of your work begins to form around what you’ve already written.

03

Watch it come together

Open the Folio. The Connection Map is already there — built from the connections you made while working. Your project has a shape you didn’t have to design.

Questions

Things people ask

How do smart features work?
Smart features in Tareea work on the structure you create — due dates, status, connections between notes, tags. The Focus card scores tasks by urgency and context using metadata. Your content is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your device, so it never reaches any external service — not by policy, by architecture.
Can I bring work from other tools into Tareea?
Yes. Tareea imports .md and .docx files. If your thinking started somewhere else — a document, a research tool, anywhere — it can live here. Export from wherever you were, import into the right Folio, and connect it to your active work.
My work lives across many tools. Does Tareea work with that?
Yes — and you don't have to move anything. Attach any URL to a note: a Google Doc, a Figma file, a Loom recording, a research article, anything stored in a cloud service. Every reference made inside a Folio surfaces at the Folio level automatically. You never go fishing for context you already captured — open the Folio and it's all there. Your work stays where it is. The context comes with you.
What is end-to-end encryption?
Your note and task content is encrypted before it leaves your device. We receive encrypted data we cannot read. In Private mode — the default — your titles and labels are encrypted too. This isn't a setting you turn on. It's on for every account, every tier, always.
What is a Folio?
A Folio is a container for everything related to one area of work — a client, a project, a book you're writing, an idea you're developing. You don't design the structure upfront. You just work, and the Folio holds what you put into it — notes, tasks, connections, and the map that emerges from them.
How is this different from Notion or Obsidian?
Notion asks you to design the structure before you can work, stores your content in plaintext, and runs AI on it. Obsidian builds a graph you maintain manually and has no real task layer. Tareea connects notes to tasks permanently — the task carries a link back to the exact note where the idea lived — and the map emerges from your work rather than being built by you.
What happens when I hit the Free cap?
The cap applies to active items only — archived notes, tasks, and Folios don't count. You can archive completed work to free up space, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited. Hitting the cap never deletes anything.
What is Connected mode?
A Pro option you opt into deliberately. It powers a live iCal feed, email digests, and BYOAI — Bring Your Own AI. With BYOAI you plug in your own AI provider and API key. Your browser talks directly to your provider. Tareea never sees your content, never proxies the call, never stores the result. Every AI action is a deliberate click — no background agents, no notes scanned without you asking. Private mode stays absolutely AI-free. You can switch back to Private after 30 days.
Why we built this

We built Tareea
because we needed it.

Tareea started as a personal problem — managing complex, high-stakes work while constantly losing the connection between the thinking and the doing. Writing a note that generated three actions, then finding those actions completely separated from their context by the time they needed doing.

We are an independent team, funded by personal savings, building something we believe in. No venture capital. No growth-at-all-costs mandate. Just a product for a specific kind of person: if you think by writing and need to act on what you think, Tareea is for you.
